Janz

In the Moment

Robert Janz has been making art for over five decades. He has been represented by major galleries and shown in world class museums. Exploring time and transience, his most extreme projects are water drawings that evaporate.

JANZ In the Moment picks up his story at the age of eighty, as he starts painting graffiti on the streets of New York. The film follows him for two years, documenting his work in the street and the studio, and delving into his surprising past.

Robert Janz works in many mediums–snow, water, sculpture, painting, drawing, cartooning and even poetry–whatever is to hand. Spending time with him we come to understand his art is so much more than the artwork he produces; it is an attitude to life,  a way of living thrillingly in the present.
